Frequently Asked Questions

So many things! But...we'll summarize in 5 bullet points.

1. Our core values are Biblically based:

  • Communication - Proverbs 15:22

"Plans fail for a lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed."

  • Quality - Colossians 3:23

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters."

  • Integrity - Proverbs 12:22

"He delights in people who are trustworthy."

2. Our team is in house and not subcontracted. This means you receive the highest QUALITY service from US. Others utilize independent contractors for their business. Not only does it provide less than desirable results, but it's illegal, for good reason. You as the pool owner are not protected in the event of an accident. BDP offers a better path to a pristine pool!

3. Because Arizona does not require pool companies to be licensed, unfortunately most are not licensed. We are properly licensed, bonded, and insured.

4. As Leslie's Preferred Pool Company, we lower your costs by leveraging our working relationship with Leslie's.

5. We are masters of the trade. We stay ahead of the curve by focusing on preventative maintenance. Understanding HOW all of your equipment works allows us to perform maintenance/repairs quickly and correctly to minimize your costs.

1x per week for most pools. If your pool is an Air BnB or Commercial Pool, we suggest 2x or more per week, depending on the usage.

Your swimming pool should be drained every 1-2 years if it's sanitized by chlorine tablets. Reason being, although MOST chemicals evaporate out of the water, not all of them do. The chemicals left behind cause skin irritations, calcium scaling, and chemical overdose! Interested in removing chlorine tablets from your pool? Ask about our Low Chemical Options.

We utilize Salt, Ozone, UV, and AOP systems to offer you the healthiest water! No more itchy skin or rashes!

The quickest way we can lower your SRP bill is to install a variable speed pool pump. On average, our clients save $50-$100 per month after our installation. But we don't stop there! All of our preferred appliances are energy efficient. From our large electric heat pumps, all the way down to our low voltage LED pool lights.

Saltwater pools are still sanitized by chlorine. The delivery method is just superior. Rather than adding chlorine tablets to the water, that are full of additional unwanted chemicals, the salt cell creates chlorine that sanitizes the pool. Saltwater pools offer softer water, chemical reduction, and ease of mind. The tradeoff is that saltwater pools cost more to maintain than traditional chlorine pools. Additional costs include: Initial installation, quarterly maintenance of cell, and cell replacements.

Did you know most pool damage occurs in the winter months? Cold water causes the pH and alkalinity levels to plummet. We use soda ash and bicarb to keep your water balanced, preventing damage. Ensure the pool is professionally balanced in the winter season to protect your swimming pool or spa from expensive damage.

1 hour per 10 degrees outside.

We balance chemistry using LSI (Langelier Saturation Index). Understand that all of your levels affect each other. pH is measured as a scale of acidity (1-14), with 7 being the neutral middle. You can have a 7 pH reading, but due to the other chemical levels, be balanced or unbalanced. Looking at all levels and adjusting accordingly is vital for the health of your pool or spa. We use Orenda's calculator to determine the LSI and we adjust accordingly. This means your pH can be anywhere between 7-8 to achieve perfectly balanced water.

Weekly pool service with BDP is how we guarantee to maximize your backyard amenity. Perfect chemistry and flawless maintenance of your system ensures your pool or spa is going to last for many years. We charge a flat monthly rate for our weekly visits. What is peace of mind worth to you?

  • Sand filters should be backwashed every 2 weeks. The sand should be replaced every 4 years.
  • DE filters should be backwashed every 4 weeks and cleaned every 3 months.
  • Cartridge filters should be cleaned every 3-6 months, depending on usage.

Salt cells should be cleaned every 3 months, per manufacturer. Although they may need to be cleaned more frequently if the water is LSI positive and calcium is growing quickly.

  1. Install barriers and alarms: Use fences with self-latching gates and alarms to restrict unsupervised access to the pool area, especially for young children and pets
  2. Supervise at all times: Never leave children unattended near the pool, even if they are strong swimmers. Always designate a responsible adult as a pool watcher.
  3. Learn CPR: Pool owners and frequent users should be trained in CPR to respond to emergencies quickly.
  4. Keep pool area clear: Remove toys, floatation devices, and other items from the pool area when not in use to prevent children from being tempted to enter unsupervised.
  5. Maintain water clarity: Keep the pool clean and clear to ensure visibility of the bottom and spot anyone in distress.
  6. Educate pool users: Teach children and guests about pool safety. There's a reason lifeguards at public pools yell, "No running!"
